FY18 data indicates a reduction of -8.39% for dollars spent on printing and mailing compared to FY17 and a continuation of decline in use and cost since FY16. This reduction is significant because the Criminal Justice System continues to be largely focused on paper driven operations due to statutory requirements. However, DOCR continues to reduce dependency on paper, ink, and postal expenses as evidenced by including electronic signatures and paperless workflow requirements into the new Jail Management System design. DOCR is experiencing the positive impact of replacing desktop printers with the Countywide Ricoh system. In particular, Community Corrections decreased paper usage by utilizing the centralized photocopy machines in Community Corrections that are provided by DGS Print Management Program, which accounted for our primary drop in our FY18 paper usage.
